George Eastman was an American entrepreneur and inventor who founded the Eastman Kodak Company in 1901. He is widely considered as one of the most important and influential figures in the history of photography and motion picture making, and is also known as the founder of the first commercial movie studio, KODAK, which became an industry leader, and was a pioneer in motion picture film and processing. Some of his other inventions include the Kodak camera (1891), celluloid roll film (1891), and Kodachrome slide film (1929). Eastman died on January 15, 1932 at his home in Rochester, New York at age 73.
